Extra Filters and Effects for Adobe Premiere

Since I have been having problems with my desktop I no longer had access to my Adobe Premiere 6.0 in order to edit videos. I decided to install it on my laptop for editing some of the 3gp converted video from my cell phone to make a vlog entry.

I had a certain effect in mind and went to drag it to the timeline only to find my effects weren't there. Sure there were the basic ones but not the full list of options I have on my desktop. Then I remembered that I had taken the 8bf files from Adobe Photoshop 7.0. Only this time when I copied and pasted the files into the Premiere folder not only did they not show up but I got an error message on starting up Premiere; one for each pasted 8bf file.

Vaguely I remembered something about transfering the plugin.dll (52 kilobytes) from the Photoshop folder (under my programs, Adobe, Photoshop) to the Adobe Premiere program folder where it replaced the 32 kilobyte plugin.dll already there.

After which I went back to the Photoshop folder and into the Plug-Ins folder and copied both the filter and effects folders. Then back to the Adobe Premire program folder, to the Plug-ins folder and pasted the two filter and effects folders there.

Sounds confusing but its really pretty simple.

So now when you open Adobe Premier the effects will be under your video effects options. Replacing the plugin.dll was supposed to allow you to use the 8bf files from Photoshop. The effects are there, listed under video options, only I can't pull the video effects onto the timeline!?

What did I end up doing last time that I can't seem to remember this time?

I'm wondering if its the operating system. Way back when I had Windows 98 I could simply copy the 8bf files and place them in Adobe Premieres folder. I think it was Windows Xp that I had to replace the plugin.dll. Is that it?

Does anyone else know what it might be? I tried looking around at various plug-in websites but to no avail.

Any help would be great.
